Thai Baht Gold 23K

Thailand’s Baht gold is of the highest purity that you can get. The gold is 96.5% pure, or 23-karat gold. The rest of the make up is silver and bronze. Thai Baht Gold because of its purity is softer than 18 or 20 karat gold. It will bend easier. Thin rings are really the only things you should be careful about. They will get miss shaped easily. But I will say any of mine that this has happened to, I just shape it back round. The necklaces and chains that my wife and I wear have never had any problems. Some of them have been very fine too.

The gold has a very yellow color due to the purity that it is. You can find rings, bracelets, necklaces and pendants any size that you may want. You can wear your gold every day, and it will not tarnish or corrode. The gold is sold by the Baht witch is the actual weight. It is sold by the baht. One baht of gold weighs 15.16 grams or .482 troy ounces.

You can buy Thailand Gold over the Internet through many advertised sites. They will usually ship by FedEx. This is a much safer way of shipping. The price will very with the world gold market price. You will have to email the firm that you want to deal with and get a fixed cost.

You can get necklaces, chains, bracelets, earrings and amulets from most Internet firms shipping gold out of Thailand. Most of them will also make custom orders also. They employ their own jewelry craftsman. You can also get 12-karat, 14-karat and 18-karat gold too. But why not get the good 23-karat gold instead.

I have not seen on the Internet for sale any gold statues. You will find them in some of the larger gold shops in Thailand. I found one in Bangkok’s Chinatown that had some. They would be used for and investment purpose. But you can use the simple jewelry for it too. If you deal with the same shop all of the time they will always buy back what gold they sold you for a price just under the market price.

In Bangkok’s Chinatown on Yaowarat Road, you will find well over one hundred and forty gold shops. The four main ones that started out are Hua Seng Heng, Seng Heng Li, Tung Jin Aeng and Tang To Kang, the last listed here is the oldest shop in Bangkok.

Thailand’s gold is a better bargain than lesser karat gold jewelry. The reason I say this is the cost of making it is lower than jewelry made in the US and Thai gold has a higher content of gold. Plus I think the rich yellow color looks better too.

Guan Yu in Gold In 2007 Cost = $8000.00

Always for the best price on Thai Baht Gold, buy it in person if you ever get to Thailand. There are plenty of gold shops to choose from. Just look to see if they are members of the Gold Merchants Association.

Thailand’s Buddhism

July 8, 2009 by Thai Traveler

The school of Buddhism practiced in Thailand is the Theravada school. Just about 95 percent of Thai practice Theravada Buddhism. Buddhist temples or wats number in the thousands in Thailand. This is where the Buddhist Monks live.

The focus of Buddhism is on man, not on any God. Buddhist Monks are the primary representatives of Buddhism in Thailand. Only men can become a Monk. Woman can serve as lay followers, making merit hoping to be born in a different role in their next life. Laywomen primarily participate in collective merit-making rituals, or by doing some domestic work in the temples.

Records for the history of Thai Buddhism between the thirteenth to the nineteenth century were for the most part destroyed by the Burmese invasion of Ayutthaya, the capital city in 1767.

Thai temples in the earlier days would be the sole form of education for poorer Thai boys. They were called dek and lived in the temples. But since the government run schools have come on line, this has cut down dramatically on young men living as dek in the temples.

Most young Thai men will temporary ordain for a term of one rainy season or even a shorter term. After that they will return back to normal Thai life.

For those who stay as monks, pick one of two specialized fields, scholarship or meditation. Monks that pick scholarship will travel to regional education centers to further learn about Pali language and scriptures.

For the ones picking Meditation will seek out a master of meditation. Meditation Monks in Thailand are revered as possessing virtue and supernatural powers.

Monks all through out Thailand will walk through the villages gathering their food from the Thai people that live there. For this the Thai people will get a blessing from the monks.

Thai people as a hole are very serious about their Buddhist beliefs. The wats are always filled with Thai’s praying and giving merits for different occasions in their life’s. All Monks are highly revered in the Thai society.

Drought in Thailand Helped by Cloud Seeding

July 2, 2009 by Thai Traveler

The last decade has been hard for Thailand having many droughts. It is not that Thailand does not get any rain; the problem is that the rain comes at very sporadic times. Some time the monsoon will end too soon and there will be a too long of a dry spell.

This will affect many different things for the Thai people. It can lead to crop loose or crop harvest shortage, drinking water shortages and to water levels dropping very low for the river hydro-power plants.

For the last 30 years or so Thailand has been cloud seeding for rain. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who has his own patented rainmaking technique, has been a driving force on getting this done. Royal Rain Makers in Thailand is the name of the rain making operation force.

Seeding clouds for rain uses one of  two chemicals, silver iodide or dry ice. The silver iodide or dry ice will add in the creation of liquid droplets in saturated vapor. King Bhumibol Adulyadej method will fly through the cloud more than once to cool the cloud farther adding the droplet growth to the point that is grows heavy enough that is falls as ice first then melts on the fall to the grown.

By cloud seeding Thailand has been able to help out the dry areas by tempering any droughts. It is not a 100% fix to the problem, but it is one part that is helping.

Thailand Weather

Northern Thailand is the coolest part of the country. Thailand’s tallest mountains surround this part of Thailand. In the mountains at night during the coolest part of the year the temperature can dip below freezing. During the day it will go up to 25C or 77F.

The northern region does have three seasons. Hot season runs March through May, rainy season starts end of May through November and the cool season runs December through February.

During the rainy season, the northern region will get a lot of rain, Chiang Mai will get any where from 2 inches a month at the start and end of the rainy season, to over 6 inches to 8 inches during the heavy times.

Central region of Thailand with Bangkok in it also has the three seasons. Hot season runs March through June, rainy season starts July through October and the cool season runs November through May.

The temperatures in Bangkok range from 35c/95f during the day to 21c/70f the night on average. The hottest month in Bangkok is April. It has been know to get close to 40c/104f some times but not very often.

Southern peninsular region Malay Peninsula only has two seasons. Hot and wet. There are several mountain ranges along the length, 1835 meters at the highest. Because of the mountains, the weather is different on the sides on the peninsula. East coast rainy season is September through December. West coast side rains come April through October.

Yearly temperatures are more even than in the northern parts of Thailand. The more south you go on the Malay Peninsula the shorter the rainy seasons.

Thailand Traffic

Depending on where you are at, Thailand traffic can be a very interesting ride. Bangkok can be the biggest challenge. Out in the countryside any where there is a small population driving is a pleasure out of the big cities.

Cars during heavy traffic changing direction

First the traffic runs the lanes with the opposite traveling side always to your right. The vehicles are right hand drive as well. Running opposite of the USA.

The roads are in excellent shape and are well maintained. In and outside of Bangkok there is a lot of construction going on for overhead highways and extending the BTS sky train.

The train will go from one end of Bangkok to the other. It is under construction now to extend it out into Samutprakarn provenance. When traveling in Bangkok, the skytrain and subway are the fastest way to get from one end of the city to the other.

Bangkok during rush hour

The morning and early evenings are the rush hour times just about anywhere. In Bangkok if you are traveling then you better leave a lot of extra time, especially if you are traveling on the roads. The roads will be packed at these times and traffic will but all comes to a halt, and some times does come to a stand still.

The Thai taxi’s are not a bad ride most of the time. In all of my times in Thailand I only really had one bad driver. I think that he thought that he could scare Ning and me going out of Bangkok. He would on an open area go like hell if you know what I mean. Needless to say he ended up rear-ending a pickup truck. Luckily no one was hurt, but his car.

You get outside of Bangkok and the roads and traffic are really good. It is like driving on any open highway. Even the smaller roads like our interstates are good traveling. There are plenty of stops along the way, so you will never be in a need for anything.

The closest thing I have ever been driving here in the USA that is anything close to Bangkok Thailand was in Chicago Illinois. But I will say one thing; the scenery is much better in Bangkok any time.
