The last decade has been hard for Thailand having many droughts. It is not that Thailand does not get any rain; the problem is that the rain comes at very sporadic times. Some time the monsoon will end too soon and there will be a too long of a dry spell.
This will affect many different things for the Thai people. It can lead to crop loose or crop harvest shortage, drinking water shortages and to water levels dropping very low for the river hydro-power plants.
For the last 30 years or so Thailand has been cloud seeding for rain. King Bhumibol Adulyadej, who has his own patented rainmaking technique, has been a driving force on getting this done. Royal Rain Makers in Thailand is the name of the rain making operation force.
Seeding clouds for rain uses one of two chemicals, silver iodide or dry ice. The silver iodide or dry ice will add in the creation of liquid droplets in saturated vapor. King Bhumibol Adulyadej method will fly through the cloud more than once to cool the cloud farther adding the droplet growth to the point that is grows heavy enough that is falls as ice first then melts on the fall to the grown.
By cloud seeding Thailand has been able to help out the dry areas by tempering any droughts. It is not a 100% fix to the problem, but it is one part that is helping.
